How to attend


Participation in the virtual event is free. We encourage donations of any amount to support the Ontario Medical Foundation. For any donations made over $10.00, we will provide a full tax receipt.

Those who register will receive exciting updates and an email with a link on September 25. Just log on and enjoy the show.

Emcee

Julie Kim

Julie Kim is a two-time Canadian Comedy Award-nominated stand-up comedian. She has been featured on national television and radio multiple times (CBC’s The Debater, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Just for Laughs Northwest, the Halifax Comedy Festival and much more). Her comedy credits are among the best in the country.

In the past year, Julie has opened for Ronny Chieng, Fortune Feimster and Hari Kondabolu. In 2018, she released her debut comedy album with 800 Pound Gorilla Records, and was discovered by fans worldwide as her comedy videos amassed over 19 million views online. Julie performs across Canada, the Unites States and beyond. She travels far and wide to achieve her mission of spreading happiness, lightening hearts and uniting through laughter.

Guest speakers

Mark Tewksbury

Mark Tewksbury first came to prominence as an Olympic swimming gold medalist, but it is his remarkable life post-Olympics that has truly defined him. In 1998, Mark made headlines when he came out as one of the first openly gay Olympic champions in the world. He has since been a leader and mentor in the global 2SLGBTQ+ human rights movement. The Toronto Star said, “Only the greatest fight for what they believe in, taking on people and institutions and closed minds because the battle is important. Few have done that more often, more successfully, and more importantly than Tewksbury.”

Mark is currently the Past Chair of Special Olympics Canada and a Director for the Canadian Olympic Committee. For his athletic achievements, ethical leadership and contribution to society, Mark has received five honorary degrees, the Queens Jubilee Silver Medal and most recently in 2019, a Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award for Gender Equality.

Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod

Hal and Joanne share their wealth of personal experiences and fitness, health and wellness knowledge as well as their entrepreneurial business background in an upbeat, entertaining and positive manner. Attendees will quickly connect with Hal and Joanne as many have grown up seeing them on TV. Attendees will also come away with the inspiration, motivation and means to take immediate steps for positive change with their health and attitude. In turn, it can help them to be successful in their personal lives and careers.

Voices Rock Medicine

Voices Rock Medicine is a choir for women physicians in the Greater Toronto Area. As part of the choral organization “Voices Rock Canada,” Voices Rock Medicine is a unique choral experience with superb contemporary music, professional leadership, and immense fun. Their video covering ”Rise Again” has over a million views on social media and has been viewed around the world to critical acclaim. This choir was created for women physicians who want to decompress from their busy lives in a community where joy and music are the focus.

Dan Julien

Dan Julien Music is a professional live entertainment company specializing in jazz & swing music. Led by lead singer Dan Julien, the musician roster boasts industry professionals from the local Toronto jazz scene. Inspired by many of the great jazz legends of the past, Dan is making it his mission to revitalize, rebuild & rebirth the jazz scene locally in our cities. Now based in the city of Toronto, Canada, Dan is working alongside a multitude of creatives, including exceptional jazz musicians, cinematographers & visual artists to show the world how entertaining jazz can really be!

Sean Stanley with Kyle Tarder-Stoll

Sean Stanley is a pianist, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who performs in the rich African-American tradition of “jazz & blues.” He regularly performs all over the GTA with some of the top musicians in the city and is proud to represent and to be one of the few Indigenous artists (in jazz) in Toronto. Kyle Tarder-Stoll is a saxophonist from Toronto. He has toured internationally and within Canada with several groups, including the Shuffle Demons.

50/50 Draw


The 50/50 Draw will open on Friday, September 18, and anyone can participate for a chance to win, even if you aren’t able to join us for the Gala. The 50/50 Draw will close at 10:00 p.m. EST, the evening of the Virtual Gala, and the winning ticket will be drawn shortly after closing. The winning ticket will be posted here on the event page and on ontariomedicalfoundation50-50.ca.

Everyone can participate! There are many items available to be bid on during the week leading up to the Gala.

Bidding is easy. You will receive real-time notifications when you have been outbid, so you can act fast and increase your chances of winning your favourite items.

Place your highest bid by Friday, September 25, at 8:00 p.m. EST, and winners will be notified at the end of the Virtual Gala.

Send us a photo of yourself and/or your family enjoying the Virtual Gala on September 25. We want to see your best party attire or coziest pajamas! Be creative, be funny and be unique. Email your photo to omsbf@oma.org with the subject line “Best Picture Contest Submission” by September 29, and be entered for a chance to win a $150 gift certificate for Amazon.ca. One grand prize gift certificate is available to be won. Your picture may be featured on the Ontario Medical Foundation website or on the next issue of the OMR. View contest rules.
