Thank you for supporting the 2023 OMF Shoebox Project for Women fundraising campaign

Thanks to the incredible support received, including the generous match of $10,000 from the OMA, and $7,025 raised at the OMA General Assembly wrapping party, the OMF raised a total of $36,305, giving a sense of hope to women in need across Ontario and making it the most successful Shoebox Project campaign to date. This year we helped 726 women purchase basic living essentials and food.

This simple act of kindness continues to be a powerful reminder for women that they are not alone and have a strong community behind them.

For the past six years, the OMF has supported the Shoebox Project for Women in memory of Dr. Elana Fric, who was an active OMA member and District 11 council delegate, and Keira Kagan, daughter of Dr. Jennifer Kagan, an OMA member.

Through a partnership with organizations like the Shoebox Project for Women, the OMF will continue its work to advance health equity and support those most affected by social determinants of health.

Thanks to the heartfelt support and incredible engagement from OMA members, staff and donors, this initiative has raised $128,000 since our first campaign in 2018 supporting more than 2,500 women across the province.

The Shoebox Project for Women

The OMF Shoebox Project for Women fundraising campaign is now closed. If you still wish to support The Shoebox Project for Women, you can donate directly through their website.

The Shoebox Project for Women collects and distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to women who are living in shelters, on the streets or other under-housed situations. Reducing the feeling of isolation and loneliness faced by women living in shelters is one of the most important outcomes of The Shoebox Project. A shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community.
